About

Independent Network Engineering Labs

MyLabsPortal is a dedicated testing and evaluation environment for enterprise network technologies. The lab exists to build, break, and document complex network architectures — producing reliable reference material for routing protocols, data centre fabrics, and security platforms.

Purpose

Protocol & Architecture Testing

Validating routing protocol behaviour, convergence characteristics, and failure scenarios across multi-vendor topologies. BGP policy, MPLS traffic engineering, OSPF/IS-IS tuning, and VXLAN/EVPN fabric design are core areas of focus.

Product Evaluation

Hands-on evaluation of enterprise networking and security platforms — including Cisco IOS-XE and NX-OS, Fortinet FortiGate, Palo Alto NGFW, and F5 BIG-IP — tested against real-world deployment scenarios rather than vendor documentation alone.

Lab Documentation

Lab topologies, configurations and test results are documented as experiments progress, supporting repeatable testing, troubleshooting and technical reference material.

Lab Environment

MyLabsPortal uses EVE-NG as its primary virtualisation platform for network engineering experiments and product evaluations. The environment includes Cisco networking, Fortinet FortiGate, Palo Alto PAN-OS and F5 BIG-IP virtual appliances, with additional technologies introduced as testing requirements evolve.
